Tomba dei Giganti di St Thomas

About an hour and a quarter from Calapineta is the Tomba dei Giganti di St Thomas, one of the most majestic examples of funerary architecture of the nuragic civilisation. The site, set in a natural context of great impact, allows you to understand the ritual and symbolic value these constructions had for the people of the time. The monumentality of the stones and the silent atmosphere surrounding it make it a place of great charm.

Domus de Janas

The Domus de Janas are ancient prehistoric tombs carved into the rock, rich in legends and mystery. Tradition links them to the janas, magical figures of Sardinian culture.
About 30 minutes from the village is the Predio Canopoli a Torpè complex, a well-preserved site that offers a real journey into the island’s prehistory. Entering these chambers carved into the granite means immersing yourself in a millennia-old history made of rituals, symbols and ancient traditions.

Nuragic complexes

Near Olbia, about an hour and twenty from the village, is the Complesso Nuragico di Lolu and Barrancu Mannu, an archaeological area rich in nuragic towers, giants’ tombs and remains that testify to the architectural and social development of the nuragic civilisation.
The site is set in a spectacular landscape, among rocks sculpted by the wind and open views over the Gallura countryside, making it not only a place of historical interest but also a splendid hiking destination.
